Review:
I was asked by the author to review this novel and to be honest I was rather skeptical about it. I mean really, a goddess? in pajamas? Haha. Anyways, I believe that the author has a very interesting, very concrete story to tell and I throughly enjoyed the story line of this novel. The plot of the novel is wonderful and the pictures it put in my head were nothing short of exquisite.

However, it was very hard for me to continue reading and over look so many grammar errors as well as spelling errors. At some points while reading this book I thought to myself "Was this book edited at all? And if it was, who was the editor because I will NEVER let them edit for me when I finish my novel!" I am far from a professional but I believe I could have done a better job editing this piece of work!

If not for the frequent grammar and spelling errors I would have easily given this book FOUR GLASSES, but since the editor didn't so such a hot job I have to say...

The House on the Shore by: Victoria Howard

The House on the Shore
by:Victoria Howard

Publication Date: Feb. 18,2009
Source: Ebook provided by Author

Synopsis:

This visually magical tale takes the reader on a journey from the remote shores of Loch Hourn in the Scottish Highlands to the singular beauty of Cape Cod. When Anna MacDonald leaves Edinburgh to find peace in the Scottish Highlands, she gets a twofold surprise: a lost sailor teaches her to love again...while a mysterious stranger has plans to kill her. Passed over for promotion by her boss-and boyfriend, Anna walks off the job in anger. But being reactionary has its price. Now she can no longer afford the rent on her Edinburgh apartment. So she retreats to the only place she has ever felt happy - her grandmother's croft on the edge of a Highland loch. With no phone or neighbours, and only two border collies for company, Anna sets out to finally achieve her lifelong dream; to write-and sell-the novel that has burned within her for years. Luke Tallantyre, a renowned Cape Cod artist, has sailed across the Atlantic to escape an artistic dry spell, and come to terms with his dangerous past. When his yacht develops a problem he drops anchor in Loch Hourn. He rows ashore, and knocking on the door of the croft, asks to use the telephone, but the reception he receives is less than welcoming - in fact it's downright frosty. Anna resents the cranky American's intrusion to her seemingly idyllic life. Luke thinks she's an ill-mannered hermit. But an unseen assassin is after one of them. So they unwillingly join forces and embark on an adventure neither ever imagined, including a chance at true love.

Review:

Ms. Howard is a truly magnificent author who writes her novels with passion and love. Howard does an amazing job telling us about the characters in her novels as well as the place in which they are set. She makes it seem as though you have stepped into the pages and are part of the story yourself rather than reading about others. Howard keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end and makes you want to keep reading. Howard makes you feel as though you know her characters personally. She makes every scene so vivid you feel like you are standing there with the characters. This was an excellent quick read from a brilliant author.

Review:
I really didn't know what to think about this book when the author asked me to review it. Honestly I have always tried NOT to turn down an author. I don't usually check book genres and all that before accepting because I believe that all authors deserve the chance and WE all need promotion of all sorts.

When I received Misfits & Heroes: West From Africa in the mail, I thought..."Oh no, what have I gotten myself into? This book is really long and it's not among my choice genres." I have a bad habit of doing what EVERYONE says not to do, Judging a book by its cover. I know most of us do it even though we shouldn't!

I soon learned that the impression the cover of this book gave me was WAY OFF! When I started reading I simply didn't want to put it down. Kathleen Rollins has written an amazing historical novel with unbelievable plot twists and wonderful characters. This book was enthralling and it was easy to for the pages to just keep turning.
