Curse of the Beast
by
Ashley Lavering
Ebook provided by Author

Synopsis: A dark shadow stalks the night, watching her—waiting to claim what is his.

Seventeen-year-old Tayla Jonas longs for a simple life, but after a traumatizing family loss, she is forced to be both mother and sister to her cousins while caring for her mentally unstable aunt. Moving to her grandma’s quiet town of Cody, Wyoming, Tayla finds some normalcy with her quirky green activist friend, Chel, who spends no time converting her to vegetarianism.

A few weeks into her new school, Tayla catches the eye of Kyle Harrington—the high school quarterback and resident millionaire—who can seduce any girl with his charismatic charm, including Tayla. But Kyle is anything but what he seems.

Walking through City Park, Tayla is unaware that an ancient curse has her in its crosshairs. The silver moonlight illuminates the path to her van, sprinkling shadows like evil twinkling eyes. Tayla’s skin prickles, and she turns. Something—or someone—is watching her.

A powerful werewolf steps from the shadows. An iridescent blue chord shoots from him and slams into her stomach, dissolving instantly. Pain wracks her body, and she tries to scramble to safety, but his silver eyes freeze her in place as the curse binds them together. The chord settles deep inside her body, coiling with dread around her heart.

Dismayed by the prospect of a werewolf for a shadow, Tayla fears for the safety of her friends and family. How will she keep the werewolf’s insatiable hunger in check? Her plans for a vegetarian lifestyle quickly dwindle away, and Tayla wrestles to fit her frazzled life back together—piece by piece. But what she didn’t expect was her attraction to the werewolf or the power of the full moon.

Will Tayla be strong enough to survive the Curse of the Beast? Or will it consume her like so many before? Find out in the first installment of this unique retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

Review:
Curse of the Beast is a very modern version of the classic Beauty and the Beast story. Ashley has told a wonderful yet different story with this novel and I truly enjoyed reading it.

Ashley kept my attention from beginning to end and I didn't want to put it down. I was enthralled by the story and it kept me on the edge of my seat. There is a perfect mix of paranormal and romance in the novel. Ashley did a great job with it.

Cemetery Moon by Beth Gualda

Cemetery Moon
by
Beth Gualda

Print copy provided by author for review.

Synopsis:

Mya Cotton has always believed in angels, but following the death of her beloved father, she now thinks they're all pretty useless. Her devoted and determined guardian is hoping to change all that--especially after Mya unwittingly succumbs to the seduction of his dark, fallen rival.

Review:

First of all, I LOVE the cover! It is absolutely breathtaking! I admit, I fell in love with the book before even reading the synopsis just because the cover is so enticing.

The story did not let me down either. Beth Gualda is a great story teller and she does a wonderful job making me feel like I actually know her characters. Through most of the story it felt like I was right there with Mya because the descriptions are so in depth. I am completely enthralled by the story and can't wait to read book 2!

Initiation by Imogen Rose

Initiation by Imogen Rose

Synopsis:

Set in the foothills of the alpine mountains in St.Moritz, this exclusive private school caters to a special kind of student. Enter at your own risk... but if you are human, you may not want to enter at all.

WARNING: This YA story is set in a school for paranormals who are very different from normal human teens. Thus, the language and some scenes might not be appropriate for younger YA readers. Recommended for those sixteen and above.

INITIATION is the first book in the prequel series (Bonfire Academy) of the Bonfire Chronicles.

Review:

I was asked to review book 2 of this series for a tour and of course I had to read book 1 first so I bought it! I am so glad I got the request for this tour because this is an amazing series! The first book grabbed me from the very first chapter! I could not put it down. I finished this book in a little over a day and it is 399 pages! This would normally take me 3-4 days to read.

Imogen Rose does an amazing job telling the story, and although some scenes are a little "out there" even for the paranormal she absolutely kept my attention fully. I loved the story and I love the way she told it. I will be starting book 2 shortly and my review will be part of the tour in Aug and Sept.

Ever Shade by Alexia Purdy

Ever Shade by Alexia Purdy
Synopsis:

Ever Shade is a dark twist on faeries. For Shade, a chance meeting with a powerful Teleen faery warrior who wields electrical currents and blue fires along his skin-has her joining him on a treacherous mission for the good Seelie Faerie Court across the land of Faerie. Magic and malice abound and nothing is what it really seems to be.

Review:

This book was recommended to me by a dear friend who's opinion I absolutely trust. I expected a good story just because she said it was good and I was not let down in the least! The story that Alexia began in this book is absolutely enthralling. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to read book 2, which I already have on my kindle :)!

However, I did find grammatical errors throughout the book that were rather confusing at times but I was still able to enjoy the book thoroughly. I am giving this book 4 glasses because of the errors but with the right editing it could EASILY jump to 5 glasses!

Wishful Thinking
Tor Books
March 2012
Synopsis:
Free-spirit Stormy Jones-Smythe lives in a loving community of artists, but when she is chosen as the third fairy godmother, the Arcani world forces its boundaries and expectations on her. Luckily even a rigid and strict bodyguard can’t contain her exuberance.
Stormy is the final facet of the Power of Three. Together with the first two godmothers, Stormy has to face the biggest threat the Arcani have seen since the time of Merlin. Maybe she can rescue a bit of happiness for herself too. If she survives.

My Review:
I had never read books about fairy godmothers before aside of Cinderella. I must admit that I wasn't sure I would like these. After reading the first book I decided to wait until I finished all of them to write my review. Mainly because I didn't want to stop reading the story! I absolutely love these books. Gabi is a wonderfully author and she did a spectacular job on these novels. The story is different (which is awesome) and it is also very well written. I am honored that Gabi thought I was worthy of reviewing these wonderful books.
