Breaking the Devil's Heart by H.A. Goodman

Breaking the Devil's Heart
by H.A. Goodman
A Logic of Demons

Review copy provided by Author

Review: First off let me just say that this cover is COLORFUL to say the least. It is also very unique which is the most fitting word for the novel as well in my opinion.

I have never read anything like it. The plot twists are completely unforeseen and absolutely shocking. The story is very gripping and it's hard to put down. By the time I made it to the end of the novel I was awestruck and anxious to know what will happen next.

If you are getting worn out on the whole vampires, werewolves, and faeries thing and you need to feast your eyes on something that is completely different from all that I definitely suggest you give this one a try! It's only $0.99 on amazon right now! Just click -----> Breaking the Devil's Heart to have a new window open to purchase this novel from Amazon.

Synopsis:
TJ’s just an ordinary fourteen year old kid with extraordinary problems at home and school:  A broken up family from his parents’ bitter divorce, evil bullies almost every afternoon, failing grades, boring classes, snobby girls, mean teachers, cut from basketball tryouts, few friends.
Life is rough for TJ Cockrell.
And then that mysterious little green book had to go and throw him into the past.  And not just any past, but into the untamed forbidding forests of 1802 eastern Tennessee along with the savage Indians, wild beasts, bloodthirsty robbers, backwoods ruffians, and log cabin living! Yup, it’s definitely not 2011 Knoxville anymore.
And he thought his present life was bad news!  But TJ’s adventures are only beginning.  Along the way, he fights off killer beasts and bandits and braves, meets the young Davy Crockett, gains a world of confidence in himself, finds his first real love, and is befriended by a fantastic frontier family who really has it together.
When he returns to the present, he’s a brand new person––but there's killers loose in his house, bullies waiting to beat him up at school, a pretty new girl at Highland High he's hasn't even seen yet.  And the aftermath of the little green book to deal with!

Review:
This novel is YA and super awesome! My children are book lovers as well as I and I can GUARANTEE that they will be reading this one and I'm pretty certain they will love it considering I am grown and I loved it! There is a good lesson to be learned as well as a very entertaining story. I will be reading all future books to come and collecting them for my children for sure!

Special Offers by M.L. Ryan

Special Offers

M.L. Ryan

Review copy provided by Author

Synopsis:
Hailey Parrish is quick-witted, irreverent, and hasn’t had a date in three years. She only wanted an eBook reader because her collection of paperbacks threatened to take over her small living space. Little did she know that the "special offers" that prompted the purchase included much more than a reduced price in exchange for a few ads. The device came pre-loaded with the essence of Sebastian Kess, an erudite womanizer with magical abilities from a parallel dimension. When she inadvertently releases him and he inhabits her body, she finally has a man inside her, just not in the way she imagined. And soon her predicament introduces her to yet another supernatural, the handsome could-be-the-man-of-her-dreams Alex Sunderland. Can Alex and Hailey find a way to return Sebastian to his own body, stay one step ahead of the criminals who want to keep him where he is, and not lose their sense of humor?

Review:
I was really skeptical about this one. I didn't really think I was going to like it looking at the title and the cover. Boy was I wrong. The humor in this novel is great. I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions throughout this book. M.L. Ryan kept the story at a really good pace. She didn't reveal things prematurely nor did she keep me in the dark too long. I really enjoyed this read and will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

Shane is too proud to ask for help, but for Jen, caring for him is more than a duty -it's a need. And as Jen guides Shane through the fires of healing, she finds something she never expected - her deepest desire.

Review:
Because of You is a wonderful novel. I cried, I laughed, and I ached for the characters throughout the book. Being an ARMY wife myself I understand what the wives are going through. I also learned a lot from the characters in this novel. My husband was injured in Afghanistan in "08" and medically retired in "09" at the age of 29. He won't talk to me about his experience in Afghanistan and I never understood why. This novel brought things to my attention that I never thought about and now I understand that my husband more than likely thinks that he's protecting me by not talking about his deployment. Being an ex-ARMY wife, I feel a real connection with the characters and I can't wait for Laura and Trent's story!

I really wish that I had a higher rating that I could give this novel. It truly deserves more!

Hi Jessica Scott, Thank you so much for allowing us to take up a little of your time to ask you questions about yourself and your novel.

First of all let’s get to know you a little better.

1. We know that you are a soldier in the United States Army and you are stationed at Ft. Hood in Texas. From reading the "About the Author" page in the back of your novel we also learned that your husband is an NCO. Is your husband also stationed at Ft. Hood?
Thanks so much for having me here today! My husband is stationed with me and our kiddos, fur babies and hamsters at Fort Hood. Despite that, we’ve spent more of the last decade apart than together because of the war.

 2.  Do you always get stationed together?
We’ve been very very fortunate that the army has left us at the same home station. It’s required some maneuvering and he’s deployed a whole lot more than if he’d moved somewhere else but it’s better to have the years when he wasn’t deployed spent together than not.

3.Would you please share with us your rank and how long it took to achieve your title in the Army?
I’m currently a captain in the army and I kind of took the long route to captain. Normally, you pin on in 3-4 years but I went through officer candidate school and didn’t commission until I had 12 years in. So I’ve been in all told 17 years as of mid August.

4. How many different countries have you been to as a soldier?
I’ve been assigned to Germany, Korea, Fort Hood and Iraq with pit stops in a few others. Germany and Korea were awesome assignments and Fort Hood will always be my home. Iraq, well, Iraq was a learning experience.

Now that we have the really personal questions out of the way let’s get to the novel.

5.When was your first novel published?
My first book BECAUSE OF YOU was published in 2011 by Loveswept. It has the honor being the debut Loveswept when Random House decided to launch it as a digital first imprint.

 6. Was your novel rejected by any other publishers before it was published?
Oh yes. Many, many times.

  7. When did you start writing romance novels?
I started writing back in 2007 when I was away from my family the first time at Officer Candidate School and well, I never stopped. I kept going until I found that one yes.

 8. What inspired Because of You and the war setting?
Shane was inspired by several of the senior enlisted men I went to Officer Candidate School. They didn’t have patience for dumb stuff and they wanted to train. Everything else just got in the way. And I wanted to explore who that man was when he no longer had the rank on his chest. As far as Jen, I needed a heroine who had her own strength but who’d been wounded as a result of something outside of her control. I chose breast cancer because for a young woman, it’s a particularly aggressive illness and she had to chose between her beauty and her life. Her strength in that choice helps get Shane through his darkest hours.

9.When writing Because of You was it your intention to help others understand the trials of a soldier’s life?
Not to be arrogant but yes, it was. I wanted to take normal soldiers who I worked with to my left and to my right and bring them to life as only romance readers could appreciate. I wanted to give soldiers a happily ever after because far too often in real life, that’s not what soldiers get.

10.When can we expect to see the sequel to Because of You available to purchase?
My next book UNTIL THERE WAS YOU is available on October 8th. It’s not the sequel per se as it’s a stand alone novel but Laura & Trent’s book BACK TO YOU is tentatively scheduled for early summer 2013.

11.   How can interested readers acquire a signed copy of Because of You?
I don’t have hard copies right now but keep checking back to my website because I love giving them away when I do get them!

Thanks so much for having me here today! I hope readers who enjoyed Shane & Jen’s story in BECAUSE OF YOU will pick up UNTIL THERE WAS YOU.

Jessica Scott returns with an all-new contemporary eBook original romance, following last fall’s release of her sizzling debut novel Because of You.
He plays by the rules, she’s not afraid to break them. Now these two strong-willed army captains will prove that opposites attract . . .
A by-the-book captain with a West Point background, Captain Evan Loehr refuses to mix business with pleasure—except for an unguarded instance years ago when he succumbed to the deep sensuality of redheaded beauty Claire Montoya. From that moment on, though, Evan has been at odds with her, through two deployments to Iraq and back again. But when he is asked to train a team prepping for combat alongside Claire, battle-worn Evan is in for the fight of his life.
Strong, gutsy, and loyal, Captain Claire Montoya has worked hard to earn the rank on her chest. In Evan, Claire sees a rigid officer who puts the rules before everything else—including his people. When the mission forces them together, Claire soon discovers that there is more to Evan than meets the eye.
He’s more than the rank on his chest; he’s a man with dark secrets and deep longings. For all their differences, Evan and Claire share two crucial passions: their country and each other.

Tristan Michel
Bloodline of Passion
by
Caddy Rowland

Book provided by author for review

Synopsis:

From the bustling streets of New York City to the smoky speakeasies of Roaring Twenties Chicago, Tristan finds huge financial success. Along with respect, tradition, and family, he promises himself that this will be enough. Having achieved peace by forgiving his father his debauchery, he’s certain that there is nothing that could induce him to follow in his father’s lascivious footsteps.

Like father, like son will never apply to Tristan.

Then the urgent whisper that has been telling him there should be more than what he is experiencing with his wife becomes a full blown roar. With a very proper wife that refuses to loosen up, Tristan learns that the passion of the father is very much the passion of the son. To deny it may be impossible, but to embrace it could cost him everything. Book 3 of The Gastien Series.

Review:

I don't think Caddy will ever disappoint me and she has literally set almost impossible standards for herself. Her first book, Gastien, was so good I didn't think the story would get better in the second book. Caddy surprised me, she exceeded my expectations with books two and three.

I literally had tears rolling down my cheeks with certain parts of this story. I actually laughed so hard my husband looked at me like I was crazy at others. When I called the first book an "emotional roller coaster" I wasn't exaggerating and books 2 and 3 have most definitely followed suit.

Caddy Rowland is an EXCELLENT story teller. All of her books have been heart wrenching and impossible to put down. The story just grabs you from the very beginning and makes you feel like you are there with the characters watching the scenes take place rather than reading them.

I'm absolutely sure that book 4 will be just as amazing as the first 3 and I can't wait to read it!

The Cowboy and the Vampire
&
Blood and Whiskey
by
Clark Hays & Kathleen McFall

Synopsis:
Cowboy and the Vampire: Reporter Lizzie Vaughan doesn't know it, but she has 2,000 years of royal Vampiric blood coursing through her veins. When she, along with her cowboy boyfriend Tucker, discover that the Vampires are conspiring to seize control of the ruling elite and claim Lizzie as their own, the result is an engrossing exploration of good and evil combined with laugh-out-loud humor. Gone are the days when vampires preyed on innocent virgins.

Blood and Whiskey:When a young homeless woman is snatched from the streets of Portland, Oregon, she has time to make one terrified call to her uncle Lenny in tiny LonePine, Wyoming. A way-off-the-grid survivalist and paranoid conspiracy theorist, Lenny turns to his best friend Tucker for help. But Tucker's got his own problems, including a vampire girlfriend.

A perpetually broke, down-on-his-luck cowboy, Tucker has fallen hard for Lizzie, a whip smart, big city girl and hotshot reporter. To everyone's surprise in LonePine (all 438 of them), she's fallen hard for him too.

Their unlikely love is central to The Cowboy and the Vampire: A Darkly Romantic Mystery when Lizzie finds out the awful truth about her heritage. Tucker, with a little help from his Dad, Lenny and an overly-sensitive cow dog named Rex, take on Lizzie's maniacal vampire father and his beautiful consort Elita. It's a blood-spattered undead apocalypse of terror and tumbleweeds.

In Blood and Whiskey, the second book in The Cowboy and Vampire Thriller Series, Tucker, Lizzie and the rest of the gang are back with a vengeance. Lizzie is pregnant, with a growing, unquenchable thirst for human blood and trouble on the horizon. The most powerful vampires from the ruling clans are headed to LonePine to test her new powers. If they find her lacking, Lizzie, her growing baby, and all of LonePine will be destroyed -- not that it would take very long.

It's an inconvenient time for Tucker to take a road trip, but sometimes friendship trumps common sense. With a duffle bag of improvised weapons, he sets out for Portland with Lenny to find the kidnapped girl. They end up in remote Plush, Oregon, where -- smack dab in the middle of the sagebrush desert -- they uncover a human blood farm run by a fearsome cowboy enemy resurrected from the Old West. His name is Henry Plummer and his sights are set on Lizzie.

As the truth about what they have uncovered dawns on Tucker and Lenny, they rush back to LonePine. The Vampire illuminati have already arrived, including Rurik, a handsome Russian vampire angling to take Tucker's place next to Lizzie.

How far will Lizzie and Tucker go to protect their unlikely love? Can a cowboy and a vampire ever hope to find happiness?

Blood and Whiskey is a story of love, loyalty, loss and sacrifice in the modern American West. With meditations on the nature of good and evil, a new cosmology for vampires -- including a meta-consciousness where vampire (and human) minds reside between deaths -- and a cast of gritty, quirky, realistic western characters, Blood and Whiskey tangles the vampire and cowboy myths into a groundbreaking new "modern gothic western" genre.

Review: These books are VERY different! Not to say that is a bad thing. I rather enjoyed the new story line. These aren't like anything that I have read before but they are definitely worth the read. I loved the story and the way the authors told it. It is a very unique spin on the whole vamp genre. The authors are really creative and explain detail very well in these novels. I was really iffy at first but after I got started I couldn't stop. I read both books back to back and loved every minute of both of them.
