REVIEW

I was really surprised by my reaction to this book. I really wasn't sure I would like it BUT it is incredible! Melissa and Pauline did an amazing job writing this novel together. I usually steer away from books that have more than one author. I have found many that were just very awkward. This one is definitely NOT one of those. I would have never guessed two separate minds worked this book out together. There are NO seams. Everything flows wonderfully.

REVIEW:

Zoey Derrick has done an amazing job on this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. The characters are strong and well described as is the story. I was very touched by the role of Cami in this novel. I'd have to say that she is my absolute favorite character...Tristan's not so bad either ;)

EXCERPT:

I am not sure if despair is really in my vocabulary anymore. There is something strange about being locked away in a hotel, thousands of miles away from everything I have come to know. My life has been on the fast track for the last five years, and there seems to be nothing I can do about it.

But out here, surrounded by water, in a hotel that holds everything anyone could possibly imagine, I feel free. My BlackBerry is off, my laptop is stowed, and the weather here is utterly amazing. I cannot even begin to describe how liberating this is, and for the first time, I'm questioning whether or not my life is worth all this madness.

Don't get me wrong; I love what I do. But even the love of acting and the money are small compensation for the madness I am required to endure.

I've realized that I left Hollywood so fast that I forgot to pack toiletries, so I've ventured into the little mall inside the hotel. It's early in the day, so fortunately for me there are hardly any other patrons floating around.

As I stroll through the mall I notice a petite beauty with black hair – several packages in her hands – walking out of the Shoe Shoppe that I just left not moments before. Her skin is pale, translucent even. Her beauty is soft, sophisticated, and natural. She's not wearing much makeup, but her lips are full with a beautiful pink tint.

I slowly follow her from a distance as she strides purposefully into Versace. "Well, that's definitely something you don't see everyday," I mutter to myself.

"What do you mean by that?" Tyson says.

"Someone like her, carrying her own bags and walking into Versace." I chuckle and he joins in.

It has been my experience, with woman especially, that shopping is something that is either done in pairs or with the help of a some poor sap hired solely for the purpose of being a servant. If you sit still long enough along Rodeo Drive in California, you will see the wealthy women walking with poles up their asses and at least one sorry sucker following her with her bags. This little lady strides into Versace, confident, calm, and collected, and minus the stick up her ass.

"Do we know who she is?" I ask.

"Not completely. She looks familiar but not in a way that I can place her. She is definitely not Hollywood."

"Good."

I watch as the Versace matron stops her from putting her bags on the floor. She quickly picks up the girl’s bags and bustles off to find the concierge.

My eyes float back to the black-haired beauty. She is standing there talking with the sales lady, and she must be ready to try something on because she takes off the light jacket she is wearing. The tank top she has on underneath is a deep purple, and as soon as she turns to hand her jacket to the sales lady, I see it: the blue, purple, and silvery heart and stars on her shoulder.

"It can't be," I mutter. My knees are growing weak, and then I realize I'm actually shaking as she continues turning around until her back is to me. And there, staring back at me, are the purple fairy wings from LAX.

BLURB

Adrianna Bristol stood before her grandmother's antique mirror and stared at the black velvet cloth covering it. She just couldn't believe her nana was gone. The mirror had hung in that exact same spot for the last twenty years, never once had it been moved from the alcove. Adrianna remembered the stern words of her grandmother when she was a child. Annabel Bristol had told her, "promise me Adrianna that you will never uncover the mirror. No matter what it may whisper to you, you must never remove the cover." Adrianna laid her hand against the cool velvet which covered the glass. As she walked away the mirror whispered to her, "you belong to me now. You belong to me." A four hundred year old curse has plagued the Bristol family since the 1600's. A curse born out of a love so rich and a betrayal so deep, that time itself has no power to stop it. Only Adrianna has the courage to find the truth behind the curse and set her family free. But will the Mirror release its darkest secrets?

Excerpt:
I relaxed at the familiar tone, but only slightly. “You scared me, Daniel.”

“Did I? That’s because you’re so tense. Jumpy.”

He was probably right, but his hands on my shoulders felt good, too good. He rubbed slowly but

with perfect pressure. A soft moan escaped my lips.

I knew I shouldn’t—it wasn’t proper—but I couldn’t help but lean into his massage. The pressure

on my tense muscles felt so amazing. And it was wonderful to be touched.

Then his hands were gone. I blinked and pushed down the sudden feeling of loss. Half the lights in

the conference room flickered off, leaving the room only dimly lit.

“Can’t really work with the lights off, Daniel,” I said, keeping my tone light.

“You work too much,” he replied.

I shivered at the low tone in his voice. Did he sound husky, like our small touch had affected him,

too? No. That wasn’t possible. He had plenty of women chasing him, and he’d slept with more

than his fair share from the rumors I’d heard. Such a small touch wouldn’t affect a man like him.

Especially not with someone like me, a mousy woman at least a couple of years older than him.

“Well, these reports won’t finish themselves.” I kept my tone as light as I could, but couldn’t help

the slight catch in my voice.

“There will be time enough for those after.”

“After what?” I turned to look at him, blinking in confusion as he pulled off his tie and tossed it on

the conference table.

“After we both relax a little.” The shadows in the room cast his face in an odd light, making his

grin seem more dangerous, his eyes darker.

“I don’t know what—”

“Stand up, Alison.”
